Pata de Chucho. Strange name, huh? If you’re not from Central America you’ve probably never heard of this phrase before, but it is a very common one in my country, Honduras. Pata de chucho (more commonly pronounced “patechucho”) is used to describe someone who loves being on the streets and who likes being outside of his or her home, maybe traveling, having fun, wandering somewhere unknown or doing something else, and after a brainstorm of ideas, we decided this was the perfect name to describe our blog, one in which we’ll talk about tourism and what are some of the beautiful places to travel in our own countries, considering ourselves pata de chuchos too.
I’ve always loved traveling and I want to show others the hidden beauties of my own country, one who’s constantly known for violence and fear, but has such great people, incredible cultural heritage, lovely traditions, delicious food, and beautiful views. Honduras is so much more than what’s portrayed in national and international news and with this blog, I hope others can start seeing it with brand new eyes and a whole new perspective. Change starts from within and as a new generation we are obliged to be the change that our country needs.
